What is this course for?

Assistant Instructor (AI) is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).

Prerequisite: Certified PADI Divemaster (or equivalent) with at least 60 logged dives. You learn how to teach in classroom, pool, and open water settings under an Instructor Trainer.

What you'll learn

  • Master the PADI system of education, standards, and course delivery guidelines.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging classroom knowledge development presentations.
  • Conduct effective confined water skill demonstrations and student evaluation.
  • Present open water teaching presentations under professional supervision.
  • Earn teaching credentials for specific PADI programs (Peak Performance Buoyancy, AWARE, etc.).
