What is this course for?

Rescue Diver expands your awareness beyond yourself to become a truly reliable buddy and leader in the water.

Through hands-on practice and realistic scenarios, you learn to spot diver stress early, prevent issues before they happen, and execute calm, effective rescue responses.

What you'll learn

  • Spot early signs of stress, fatigue, and potential hazards in yourself and fellow divers.
  • Master self-rescue techniques, tired-diver assists, and panicked-diver management.
  • Conduct underwater search patterns and efficiently assist unresponsive divers.
  • Coordinate emergency first response, oxygen administration, and evacuation planning.
  • Build decisive leadership, calm communication, and emergency problem-solving under pressure.

UNDERSTAND
Complete the knowledge development and learn how prevention, assessment and decision-making shape an effective rescue response.

PRACTISE
Develop the ten rescue exercises through repeated practice, building from self-rescue review to assisting other divers.

RESPOND
Bring the pieces together in two open-water rescue scenarios that require you to assess, organise and act.

  • Current EFR Primary and Secondary Care training (or qualifying CPR/first-aid training) within 24 months is required and may be completed alongside the course.
