Remote. Current-swept. Macro heaven. Where the Andaman meets the Indian Ocean, at the far northwestern tip of Sumatra.
Pulau Weh sits at the far northwestern tip of Sumatra, right where the Andaman Sea meets the Indian Ocean. Deep water and strong currents sustain an unbelievable amount and variety of marine life here — from tiny critters to grand pelagics — across a coastline that still feels genuinely off the beaten track.
On a single dive you can expect moray eels, hunting trevallies, neon rivers of fusiliers, stingrays and reef sharks, with the occasional devil ray passing through the blue. Shift your focus to macro and the island rewards patience — nudibranchs, ghost pipefish and tiny seahorses tucked into the reef. Base yourself right on Gapang Beach and the dive boats are a short walk from your cottage door.
December sits at the edge of the island's wetter months — expect a mix of sun and short showers rather than a hard monsoon, with diving and visibility holding up well throughout your stay.
Duplex garden cottages a short walk from the dive centre on Gapang Beach. Spacious, diver-friendly units with a living area, choice of King, Twin or Triple bed, a large wooden veranda with hammock, and an en-suite bathroom with hot shower. Available with AC or Eco (Fan) — your choice, same package price.

General timing guide: aim to arrive in Banda Aceh before 08:00 to connect the 10:00 express ferry, putting you at the resort by around noon. On departure, any flight from 11:00 onward will connect the 08:00 ferry back to Banda Aceh — book an earlier flight and you'll need to overnight in Banda Aceh instead. Flights are self-booked and not included in the package price.
